Formats and text styles for the book's table of contents
The table of contents (TOC) page contains links to all book components. The stylesheet
has all features and instructions to set up text styles for the TOC
pages. These features are applied to book, part and chapter TOCs (there are also other
stylesheet features for part TOCs
and chapter TOCs
that can be set in other stylesheets).
The TOC page details that can be set in the stylesheet are:
- display TOCs selectively for the book, parts and chapters (and set the number of levels
in each TOC)
- TOC title
- preliminary matter entries
- part entries
- chapter entries
- chapter author names
- section entries
- end matter entries.
XML markup to edit
The TOCs for the book, parts and chapters are generated automatically when XML content is
transformed (typeset) to ebook formats. The TOC entries are created from
<title> elements in all the book components. No other XML markup is
needed to create the TOCs.
XML markup is needed to change the order of the book
TOC in the preliminary matter pages.
