Open-source customised stylesheets for PDF

Xmplar is developing customised XSLT stylesheets to transform XML content to a PDF document. Once the stylesheets have been refined to add basic functionality for page and text design, they will be documented in detail and tested for usability. We expect to release the first version as open-source stylesheets (i.e. freely available) during the first half of 2012.

The code below is a "sneak peek" of part of a customised stylesheet. This allows users to:

set different text styles for figure labels and titles (e.g. bold text for the figure label and normal text for the figure title)
adjust leading below figures (to improve page layout)
insert any punctuation between a figure label and the following title (e.g. full stop, colon, single space).
